Second fentanyl-related murder charge filed against Montgomery County man

While a Montgomery County man is in custody for a fentanyl-related murder, he is charged with another murder.

Keian Alexander Cormier, who was first charged on May 21, has also been facing murder charges since June 18.

On April 19, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to the 10,000 block of Twin Circles in Montgomery where someone was found dead. Members of the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MOCONET) also assisted, suspecting the person had died of an overdose. It was later confirmed that Tyler Gengo had died from the toxic effects of fentanyl.

Cormier was identified as the supplier of the fentanyl and has now been charged with a second murder, even though he was already in custody for a previous fentanyl-related death.

On March 16, MOCONET responded to a death investigation on Barberry Street in Willis, where 21-year-old Samuel Pearson was found dead. It was later confirmed that Pearson had died of a fentanyl overdose.

After an investigation, Cormier was identified as the supplier of the fentanyl. He was arrested on May 21 and initially charged with murder.

MOCONET and the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) have been addressing fentanyl trafficking in Montgomery County since 2019. Under House Bill 6, which takes effect on September 1, 2023, individuals can be charged with “fentanyl murder” if their distribution results in death.
