Brian Windhorst, NBA insider at ESPN, is optimistic that the Miami Heat will make some deals this summer to acquire more players.
He believes Pat Riley and the Heat will make some moves to revamp their lineup and potentially have a better regular season.
One of those trades could happen as early as Wednesday night during the first round of the NBA Draft. If the Heat do make a trade this offseason, it will be much different than last season when they didn’t move and did nothing. They tried to sign Damian Lilliard, but that trade didn’t work out.
Windhorst believes Miami will achieve something this year.
“I think the Heat are always looking for ways to improve,” Windhorst said on The Pat McAfee Show. “They tried to sign someone besides Jimmy Butler. We saw them go for Dame Lilliard. I think they wanted Jrue Holiday.”
“As far as I know, Jimmy Butler plans to return to the Miami Heat next year, even if there is no contract extension.
There are teams that have definitely asked if he wants out, and he said, “I’m in good hands in Miami.”@WindhorstESPN #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/4vdZQjAbh0

Miami has already been embroiled in rumors that it might consider signing Atlanta Hawks point guard and three-time NBA All-Star Trae Young. Windhorst isn’t sure if Miami has the capital to pull off such a big transfer, but he believes it’s within their purview.
“They don’t have the best assets right now,” Windhorst said. “I think they’ll stay in the market and see if they can get something going.”
