DJ Arnie Amber of WMBS and Jim Beck of Beck’s Wrecks have been hosting car shows throughout Uniontown and the surrounding area for years.

On June 29th they will once again bring car enthusiasts together at the Founding Day Festival and hope that people will come to enjoy cars and support a good cause.

“The success of a car show depends on several factors. Mother Nature has a lot to do with it. We’ve had anywhere from 60 to 200 cars,” Amber said. “Anyone who wants to sign up and participate is welcome.”

This year the car show will be held across the street from Marshall Park in the Uniontown Library parking lot.

Amber mainly acts as a presenter and DJ.

Beck is responsible for classifying and judging that part of the show.

Registration is $10 and begins at 10 a.m. on the day of the event. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Judging will be completed at 3 p.m. and an awards ceremony will follow.

“We’ll have 10 different categories and a first, second and third place in each category, so at least 30 participants can go home with something,” Beck said. “The categories range from pre-1940 to muscle cars.”

Amber hosts at least 40 car shows during the summer and says younger teenagers are starting to get the car show bug, too.

“You never know what you’re going to see. The teenagers may not have the older classics, but it’s interesting to see what the newer cars have and how they fix their cars,” Amber said.

For car lovers, it is another weekend to indulge their passion.

“It’s the camaraderie. You get a chance to sit and talk with people you haven’t seen in a long time. You get to see new cars, get up close and personal with them and relive some memories of the old cars,” Amber said. “The music helps too. We have some great vintage cars from the ’50s and ’60s that take you back in time.”

Registration is open from 10am to 12pm and the car show officially begins at 11am.
