Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will make its streaming debut on Max on July 4. The film grossed $568 million at the worldwide box office, including $196 million in North America.

An American Sign Language (ASL) version of the film will stream exclusively on Max the same day. This ASL version of the film was produced exclusively for Max, with ASL performer Otis Jones (Deaf West Theatre) providing the interpretation. Jones was taught by Leila Hanaumi, who delivered a highly acclaimed performance in Barbie with ASL last December, Max’s first ASL film interpretation.

The film in ASL will appear as a unique title in the Max app and can be identified by its key art icon with the sign language symbol.

The film follows Kong’s journey through an undiscovered layer of the Hollow Earth in search of his family – and what he discovers inadvertently gives rise to the most dangerous threat to humanity yet… one that can only be fought (and possibly defeated) by the combined forces of Kong and Godzilla.

The film stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns and Fala Chen. The screenplay is by Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett and Jeremy Slater from a story by Rossio & Wingard & Barrett, based on the character “Godzilla” owned and created by TOHO Co., Ltd. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric Mcleod, Thomas Tull and Brian Rogers. The executive producers are Wingard, Jen Conroy, Jay Ashenfelter, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira.
