Kristen Stewart’s highly acclaimed new thriller, Love lies bleeding, will soon be available to stream for free for Max subscribers.
Rose Glass’ film for A24 will be available on the streaming platform starting July 19, Warner Bros Discovery announced this week.
The new film is an outrageous lesbian noir thriller set in the 1980s. dusk Star Stewart plays Lou, a scruffy, chain-smoking manager of a New Mexico gym. Lou soon falls in love with Jackie (Katy O’Brian), a young homeless bodybuilder.
However, Lou’s psychotic father (Ed Harris), who owns the local shooting range, and her sleazy, wife-beating brother-in-law (Dave Franco) complicate their new romance.
After its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20 Love lies bleeding received a flood of rave reviews. On review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes, it has a near-perfect score of 94 percent, meaning almost all critics had positive things to say about it.
In her four-star review for The IndependentClarisse Loughrey called the film a “hypnotic, steroid-fueled fever dream.”
“Love lies bleeding bottles of that hot, feverish, redemptive desire, only to shake it like lemonade and then peel the cap off,” she wrote.
Glass is a British filmmaker who made a gripping debut in 2020 with the Scarborough-set religious horror film. Saint Maud with Morfydd Clark (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power).
In a recent interview with Net-A-PorterStewart accused Hollywood of “misguided” support for female filmmakers.

“There’s this notion that we can check off these little boxes… It’s easy for them to say, ‘Look what we’re doing. We’re doing Maggie Gyllenhaal’s movie! We’re doing Margot Robbie’s movie!’ And you think, OK, cool. They’ve picked four,” Stewart said.
“And I admire these women, I love these women,” she clarified, before adding, “(But) it feels fake. When we congratulate each other on expanding our horizons when we haven’t actually done enough, then we stop expanding our horizons.”
The 34-year-old will make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s 2011 memoir. The chronology of water.
She will also star in a television show for the first time, playing astronaut Sally Ride in the miniseries. The challenger.
It is based on Meredith Bagby’s 2022 book The New Ones: The historic class of astronauts that broke barriers and changed the face of space travel, The book tells the story of the NASA astronaut class of 1978, which, in addition to “Ride,” also included the first African-Americans and Asian-Americans to fly into space.
Love lies bleeding can be rented or purchased on Prime Video and Apple TV+. It will be released on Max on July 19th.
