Whether you want to encourage future actors, improve your skills in competitive sports, or help an aspiring chef in the kitchen, there’s a camp on virtually every topic this summer.

Art/Theatre Camps

Spotlight on the art summer camps
Spotlight on the Arts Summer Camps, a Catholic theater and arts training center, is hosting performing and visual arts camps July 8-19 at All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas and Nativity Catholic Church in Burke. Theater camps include a Broadway Spotlight for grades 4-12 and a Drama Bootcamp for grades 1-9. The two visual arts camps allow students to do sculpture, painting and tie-dye. Teachers are Catholic and art-savvy.

TORCH Theatre Club
TORCH Drama, held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Warrenton, will host a drama workshop for students ages 12-14 on July 20. TORCH is a drama program that allows students to develop their talent in theater and teaches them how to live out their faith on and off stage.

Performances

“Leap of Faith” by Nativity Players Theater Ministry
Nativity Players, Nativity’s theater company, will perform “Leap of Faith” July 18-20, 26 and 27. The musical, with music by Alan Menken, tells the story of a man trying to change his life and revive his faith. Tickets can be purchased at upperroomtheatreministry.org.
“Oklahoma!” from the summer theater program
The Summer Theatre Program, a program co-sponsored by St. Bernadette Church in Springfield and Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, will perform the classic musical “Oklahoma!” in Ireton July 25-27. This show about the lives of cowboys and ranchers includes songs such as “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning.”

“Freaky Friday” by Upper Room Ministry
Upper Room Theatre Ministry in Manassas will present the heartwarming musical “Freaky Friday” featuring top Northern Virginia talent from July 16-21 at All Saints Performing Arts Center in Manassas. Tickets are available on the website.
“Newsies: the Musical” by TORCH Drama Club
The TORCH Drama Club will perform “Newsies: The Musical” from June 21 to 30. High school students will present a combination of sophisticated music, dance and acting.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a summer program designed to give children an interactive Bible experience. Held in several parishes, the camps invite students to learn about their faith, play games, and pray. Check with your parish to see if they are holding a Vacation Bible School this summer.

Summer Camp

Contigo Youth Club: Camp Contigo 24 June – 24 August

Camp Contigo is a summer camp at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Falls Church for students in grades 1-9 from the Seven Corners and Bailey’s Crossroads area. Students learn about faith, spend time worshiping, and participate in sports and games.

Summer at Sacred Heart (SASH) June 17 – August 2

Sacred Heart Church in Winchester hosts Summer at Sacred Heart (SASH) for children ages 3 to 13 so students can grow in faith, make friends, and learn. SASH offers more than 50 camp offerings, including preschool camps, sports camps, art camps, and cooking camps.

St. Ambrose Camp in Annandale, June 17 – August 2

St. Ambrose Church in Annandale offers over 45 camps for children ages 4 to 13 from 8 a.m. to noon with extended care.

St. Anthony of Padua in Falls Church, June 17 – August 2

St. Anthony of Padua in Falls Church offers full-day and half-day programs for children in grades Pre-K-2. The parish also offers a standardized testing skills camp for students in grades 6-8.

Catholic High School Camps: St. John Paul the Great, St. Paul VI, Bishop Ireton and Bishop O’Connell.

Bishop O’Connell, Bishop Ireton, St. John Paul the Great and St. Paul the VI each host a wide variety of camps for high school students, including theater, tennis and lacrosse camps for teens.
