Can you tell the difference between the election and reality? Take our quiz | Television

Over the past few decades, any general election – and there have been many – has been very likely to be so riddled with gaffes and panic that it ended up being compared to The Thick of It. This is a testament to the painful authenticity of this show, and a sad reality of political discourse in the 21st century.

By anyone’s standards, however, the 2024 general election was particularly “The Thick of Itty.” At one point, the show’s creator, Armando Iannucci, pointed out that a fleeting talking point – the Conservatives’ plan to leave immigration to an independent body to prevent MPs from being tripped up on the issue in the media – was basically the plot of the 2007 special “The Rise of the Madmen.”

In other words, it’s time for a quiz. Below is a list of events. Some of them happened during The Thick of It, and some have happened in real life since the election was called. All you have to do is figure out what’s what. If you’ve been following the events closely, this should be a piece of cake. However, if you opted out of voting a long time ago because you’re only human and don’t want to lose your mind, it might prove a little more difficult.
