This is how much a retired football coach from Alabama earns

Nick Saban’s salary for his new role at Alabama Athletics is official.

The retired Alabama State football coach will now earn an annual salary of $500,000.04, which equates to a monthly rate of $41,666.67, according to payroll records obtained by The Tuscaloosa News through a public records request.

According to the form, this salary is part of a 40-hour work week in his position. The new role officially began on March 1.

His employee class has changed and he is now in a different department, while his “title/rank” has changed from “head coach” to “professional.”

Last season, Saban was the highest-paid public school college football coach in Alabama, earning $11.41 million.

Saban retired in January after 17 seasons as coach of the Crimson Tide. Kalen DeBoer was hired as his successor. Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne described Saban’s role as that of a “consultant.” Saban now has an office at Bryant-Denny Stadium instead of the Mal Moore Athletic Facility, where football is played.

After retiring from coaching, Saban will also be a part of ESPN’s College GameDay. As an analyst for ESPN, Saban has participated and will continue to participate in other coverage, such as the NFL Draft and SEC Media Days.
