DTN’s weekly DDG price lower on average

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) – The DTN dried grain (DDG) price from domestic distillers from 33 locations averaged $2 lower for the week ending June 27 than the previous week at $157 per ton. It was another rough week for the cash price of corn, adding pressure to DDG prices, as did cheaper prices for competing feeds. The DTN National Average Corn Index was 22 cents lower compared to the previous week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that total ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.043 million barrels per day (bpd) for the week ended June 21, down 14,000 bpd from the previous week and 9,000 bpd, or 0.9%, from the same week a year ago. The four-week average production of 1.049 million bpd was 10,000 bpd above the same four weeks a year ago. Ethanol production in the Midwest averaged 987,000 bpd, down 11,000 bpd from the previous week and 4,000 bpd, or 0.4%, from the same week a year ago. The four-week average production of 991,000 bpd was 10,000 bpd above the same four weeks a year ago.

Based on the average price collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ending June 27 was 1.06%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 43.48 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.81 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal of $7.60.
