Logan Center Event Hall

Luther: Never Too Much, the documentary, tells the story of a vocal virtuoso. Using a wealth of rarely seen archival material, Luther tells his own story with the help of his closest friends and musical partners, including Mariah Carey, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson and Roberta Flack. The film recreates the many breathtaking moments of Luther’s musical career, while also delving into his unrequited love life, his health struggles and his lifelong struggle to earn the respect his music deserves.

Why you shouldn’t miss it…
Those who know, know – there is only one Luther. Celebrated festival alumna Dawn Porter invites audiences on a musical journey into the life of the legendary Luther Vandross, the man with the soulful, velvety voice. An archive footage of performances and recording sessions immerses us in his legendary musical talent as a singer, songwriter and producer. Porter then goes beyond the spotlight to get to know the man behind the music – insights from musicians and friends, as well as archival interviews with Luther himself, reveal his humor, his frustrations, his loneliness and his unwavering dedication to his craft.

This event will last approximately 150 minutes with questions and answers and no intermission.
