WHERE TO FIND FREE MUSEUM ADMISSIONS AND FAMILY TOURS IN THE DETROIT METROPOLITAN AREA IN JULY – LittleGuide Detroit

Kids are expensive and trips can add up quickly. Here are the dates you can enjoy FREE family fun in the Detroit metro area in July.

Every Wednesday in July you can experience summer fun at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm! There will be musical entertainment starting at 12pm and water fun starting at 1pm with two giant slides, a Rochester Hills fire truck, a foam machine for young children, wading in Stoney Creek, water activities and live entertainment.

Reading and Rhythm on the Riverfront takes place in Gabriel Richard Park, a large riverfront oasis where families can enjoy music, storytelling and storytelling in person and projected on a large screen. Participants also receive free snacks and a book. 45-minute sessions will be held every Thursday and Friday at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. from July 11 through August 16, and parents must register in advance.

The 2024 Hot Wheels Legends Tour is back with an all-new quest to find a customized vehicle worthy of becoming a Hot Wheels® die-cast car. Bring kids of all ages to see life-sized Hot Wheels Garage of Legends vehicles, play in the Hot Wheels Kid Zone, check out the Hot Wheels Die-Cast Vending Truck, meet car influencers and more!

The CoComelon Meet and Greets feature fun activities for the whole family, including face painting, bubble shows, arts and crafts, music and dancing with Ralph Thompkins, owner of SWAG Kids Gym in West Bloomfield. Light snacks will be provided.

Bring blankets, pillows and snacks for a fun evening under the stars. Birmingham hosts FREE outdoor movie nights in Booth Park. Pre-show entertainment begins at 6:30pm and the movie starts at 7:30pm. In the event of inclement weather, movie nights will be held the following evening (Saturday).

You don’t have to wait until fall for football! The Detroit Lions training camp is FREE to the public at Allen Park. Tickets go on sale to the public July 16th. PS: If your kids (girls or boys) want to PLAY football, check out NFL Flag, they have over two dozen locations in the Detroit metro area.

Days with free museum admission

Storytimes at Ford House are ideal for children ages 7 and under. Enjoy an interactive story followed by hands-on fun. Then you can explore the museum, have a picnic in the Speedster and find the perfect spot on the grounds for a morning of family fun.

Enjoy free admission to Cranbrook Science on Friday from 10am-10pm. On the third Thursday, visitors have free admission to the Cranbrook Institute of Science from 5pm-8pm AND to the Cranbrook Art Museum from 11am-8pm.

Take the opportunity to explore and experience the OAC with building sounds and ambient noise at a lower volume. A quiet room with sensory materials is available during your visit and building capacity is limited.
The building will open to the public at 12:00 noon. Admission and visitor numbers will then return to normal operating levels.

Celebrate the new exhibition “Kresge at 100: A Century of Impact, a Future of Opportunity” with free admission to the Detroit Historical Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
