SpaceX rocket launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida: How to watch it

A rocket launch during rush hour? Around the time when hundreds of drivers are driving home from work or to dinner, SpaceX’s launch window opens.

There’s a rocket launch coming up in Florida this week — maybe in two weeks — and the Space Coast should have a great view of the launch, weather permitting and cloud cover dependent. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket may lift off shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday carrying an Astra 1P satellite, and another Falcon 9 rocket will launch Starlink internet satellites into space.

Below you’ll find a calendar of upcoming rocket launches, along with suggestions on where to watch them. If there are any changes to the launches, this article will be updated.

Will it rain today in Melbourne, Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral, Florida?

You can watch the rocket launch from pretty much anywhere in Brevard. The best view of a rocket launch is from the beach on the Space Coast. However, visibility is dependent on weather conditions and people should be careful not to block traffic or the right of way on bridges and to follow posted rules on the beaches.

If you watch the launch on the Indian River in Titusville from Space View Park or Parrish Park, you will be looking directly east across the river.

If you are further south on the Indian River, look northeast.

Playalinda Beach, or Canaveral National Seashore, is the closest place to watch the launch, as it is almost parallel to Launch Pad 39A. From the beach, look south along the shoreline (from some spots you can even see the ramp).
