There are still areas in KELOLAND that could use some rain

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Rainy days are the talk of the town in eastern KELOLAND. In fact, I did some research since May 1st and found that Sioux Falls has had 25 days with measurable rain. That’s over 50% of the time. But that wasn’t the case for all of them.

Yesterday, isolated showers and storms with occasional heavy rain moved through eastern KELOLAND. During the night, a separate rain area moved through parts of western and northern South Dakota.

This brought much needed rain to the north and especially to Mobridge.

Before the midnight rain, Mobridge had 2.09 inches of precipitation since May 1, less than 50% of average during that time. But an inch and a half of rain fell after midnight, helping push precipitation up to 70% of average.

The 1.33 inches that fell after midnight is just half an inch below the May total.

Pierre was touched by some rain last night, but it was not enough to mitigate the lack of rain, with rainfall in the capital remaining at about 40% of average since May 1.

Before the morning rain in Aberdeen, the temperature in the Hub City was 58% of its average since May 1.

We have already mentioned that the weather will continue to be very active in the next few days. It will depend on where the rains settle, because there are areas that can use the rain and others that cannot.
