  • The zone used to be a raid, but is now open to players level 80 and above.

Some players have seen this zone before, although not as an open zone, but as part of a raid in the Caverns of Time. Players took part in the epic battle against Archimonde himself to save the World Tree from Archimonde. In previous expansions, the geographical location of Mount Hyjal in northern Kalimdor was visible on all maps, but not open for play.

The Guardians of Hyjal are similar to the Cenarion Circle, a faction that was also part of the original game, including the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion. They consist exclusively of druids who are either tauren or night elves. Their allies include the Elders, gigantic animals that are also powerful earth spirits, and famous heroes such as Ysera, the Green Dragon Aspect, and Malfurion Stormrage.

If you need help hunting Mountain Trout in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, this guide can point you in the right direction.

Start of the quest series

Check out the new bulletin board in Orgrimmar or Stormwind

Bulletin Board Orgrimmer, Call of the Warchief, Cataclysm

  • Travel to Nordrassil, the headquarters of the Guardians of Hyjal

The Bulletin Board quest requires the player to speak to an NPC in town who is a representative of the Guardians of Hyjal.

  • Horde players talk to Emissary Windsong in the valley of wisdom
  • Alliance players contact Emissary Jademoon in Stormwind Castle.

This is followed by a short journey to Moonglade, a zone normally reserved exclusively for druids that is occasionally opened during special seasonal events such as the Lunar Festival. From here, the player secures a one-time transport to Nordrassil on the back of a talkative green dragon, who shares some of the recent history and the Guardians’ actions along the way.

Once the player arrives in Nordrassil, there is a flight path connecting them to the rest of Kalimdor, as well as two convenient portals next to the entrance to the inn.

The small lake west of the inn is an ideal place to start learning the fishing profession. The materials you receive can also be used to improve your cooking skills.

  • Look for Provisioner Whitehoof in the main building

There are two vendors on the right as you enter the inn. The first is Lenedil Moonwing, the general merchant, and to his right is the Quartermaster, Supply WhitecloudOnce you have a friendly reputation, you can Tabard of the Guardians of Hyjal.

There’s a nice quest chain that goes through the zone, and it’s enough to get you to Friendly, but not Exalted. The next step is to level up to 85 and run through the Lost City of Tolvir, Halls of Origination, and Grim Batol on Normal or any Heroic Cataclysm dungeon while wearing the Tabard.

There is only one daily quest in Phase One of Cataclysm, Vigilance on Wings. It is located in the New Growth, centrally located in Mount Hyjal, and the quest chain that began in Nordrassil eventually leads there. After you complete the quest for the first time, it becomes a repeatable daily quest and rewards 250 reputation points.

The Firelands Dailies are another handy way to increase reputation with the Guardians of Hyjal, but they won’t be unlocked until Phase Three of the expansion, and the game is currently in Phase One.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic: Archaeology Guide

Archaeology is a secondary profession in Cataclysm Classic, and this is how this unique ability works.

Why it is important

Important rewards and cool lore

  • Indispensable BiS for some classes

Hyjal is one of the new zones for level 80 players, so most of these items aren’t endgame BiS, but some of the items are important nonetheless. It’s not just about decent gear or fun new trinkets from the Quartermaster, but also the enchantments and buffs available.

The nostalgic value of traversing Mount Hyjal as a solo player rather than being part of a gradually introduced raid group makes it enjoyable nonetheless. The cinematics and characters involved have been part of Azeroth’s lore since time immemorial, drawing on both the old RTS games of the 1990s and Azeroth’s history.

The Arcanum of Hyjal is the most important item on the list and the new BiS enchantment for the character’s headgear. It requires Revered reputation, adds 60 Intellect and 35 Critical Strike Rating, and costs 150 gold. Even after leaving everything else behind, this is the enchantment that players keep coming back for, no matter how epic their gear is.

Some are best-in-slot and part of a raid or PvP build, while others are just nice to have. The Smart Fox Jerkina leather chest piece, has two gem sockets and improves critical strike rating, making it more suitable for leveling and PvE. The Belt of the Wild Wolf is one of the few heavy armor items on the list and also increases critical strike, making it a good item for warriors and paladins.
