Kevin Costner will not return to “Yellowstone”

It’s official: After months of speculation, Kevin Costner is not returning to Yellowstone as John Dutton. “I just wanted to check in with you guys and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and all the things that go into it, and thinking about Yellowstone – this beloved show that I love and I know you love – it just became clear to me that I’m not going to be able to continue with season 5b or in the future,” the Oscar winner said in an Instagram video. “I loved it and I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m not returning… see you in the theaters.” Costner directs and stars in the new western “Horizon: An American Saga,” which hits theaters June 28, followed by part 2 on August 16. ET reports that “Yellowstone” resumed filming its final episodes on May 20 without Costner; the second half of the Paramount Network’s fifth and final season will be back on Sunday, November 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
