Mother left baby in hot car while eating out in Clovis, police say | YourCentralValley.com

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A mother who left her toddler in a hot car while she went out to eat in Clovis was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, according to Clovis police.

Officers said they were notified around 4:30 p.m. Monday of a child left in a car parked at the corner of Willow Avenue and Nees Avenue.

According to the National Weather Service, the outside temperature at the time was about 95 degrees.

The person who reported the child in the overheated car said the engine was off and the windows were slightly rolled down, but the toddler appeared warm in his car seat.

According to police, the mother and an older child returned to the car while the caller reported that the toddler was trapped inside.

Officers found the child was locked in the vehicle for about 20 minutes while the mother and her other child ate at a nearby store. The toddler was examined by paramedics and found to be healthy – but warm to the touch.

The mother was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of child endangerment – and the toddler and older child were taken to their father by Child Protective Services. The mother was identified by police as 38-year-old Nallely Pamela Gonzalez-Madueno.
