How to get Dark Ancient Dragonsmith Stones in the Shadow of the Earth Tree

A Dark Ancient Dragon Forge is the crafting material that allows players to upgrade the highest quality weapons to +10. They are incredibly rare, only 8 of them are available in the base version of Elden Ring. In Shadow of the earth tree, Currently, there seem to be three ways to acquire this important item: Defeat SotE’s Ghostflame Dragons, defeat the ancient dragon Senessax, and make your way to the top of the Spiral Rise in Enir-Ilim.

Gravesite level

  • The first Ghostflame Dragon is found in the large pond west of the abandoned, ailing village and the Great Bridge, northern Place of Grace.


Scadu Altus

  • Directly north of the tunnel leading to the Fort of Reprimand in southern Scadu Altus.

Sky blue coast

  • From the main attraction of the Cerulean Coast, the Ghostflame Dragon is visible in the distance. You may have to ride south a bit to improve visibility, but it’s there.

Where to find the ancient dragon Senessax

To reach Ancient Dragon Senessaxyou must move through the Dragonpit cave in the southern Gravesite level. This will take you to the base of Jagged Peak. Follow the mountain path and you will first come across two battling dragons. After this fight, continue up the path. You will encounter the ancient dragon Senessax before reaching the final boss of the area. Defeat Senessax to obtain a Dark Ancient Dragon Forgestone and a normal Antique Dragonsmithing Stone .


Where to find the gloomy old stone at Spiral Rise in Enir-Ilim

To reach Enir-Ilim, you must go through the ancient ruins of Rauh and defeat the main boss of the area. This will lead you to the Seal Tree. Setting the tree on fire will reveal a massive Legacy Dungeon in the sky called Enir-Illum. This area is incredibly difficult – even for Shadow of the earth tree. There are simple resurrected enemies that are harder than some of the game’s mini-bosses, but it is possible to overcome them. Your first goal is to reach the third Mercy location in the dungeon: Spiral Rise.

Once you reach Spiral Rise, follow these steps:


  • From Spiral Rise, go up the stairs until you exit through a window on the left. Eliminate the enemy on the roof, then head right. As you turn the corner, you will encounter several Gravebirds on the roof ahead of you, so be careful.
  • Continue across the roof until you see a staircase leading up to a tower.
  • Take the stairs up, into and through the first chamber. Then take the second stairs up to the next roof. There is a very dangerous Horned Warrior patrol.
  • Go to the roof and into the building above. Once inside, take the stairs.
  • At the top of the stairs you will find an elevator. Take it down.
  • Get off the elevator and go through the only exit. Go down and through the final chamber.
  • When leaving the room, a ring-bearing omen is waiting to surprise you.
  • At the last exit, go down the stairs to find the stone at the end.

These are currently all known Dark Old Dragonforge Stones in
Shadow of the earth tree.
If any more are found, they will be added to this guide as soon as possible.
