President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will face off this week in the first presidential debate of the 2024 cycle.

The two favorites for the White House this year are two men well-known in both politics and the media. The two will take part in the 90-minute debate in Atlanta, which moderator CNN said will differ from previous presidential debates by the lack of a studio audience.

The first in-person debate still gives many people a sense of déjà vu from 2020. Here’s when the debate will take place and where you can stream it.

  • Accept the rules and format of the debate
  • Reach at least 15% in four separate nationwide polls of registered or likely voters that meet CNN’s reporting standards.

  • Voter registration deadline: Monday, October 7

Have official candidates for the 2024 presidential election been announced yet?

Trump and Biden are the likely presidential candidates of the Republicans and Democrats, respectively. The official nomination of the two as candidates for their respective parties is expected to take place in the summer at the party conventions of both parties.

Democrats will make an official nomination for president either in a virtual roll call before the Democratic National Convention or at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August. Republicans will make an official nomination for president at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in July.
