Rickey Boudreaux, who retired as Youngsville police chief, is running to get the job back

YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) — Former Youngsville Police Chief Rickey Boudreaux, who retired abruptly last year for health reasonsannounced in a Facebook post on Wednesday that he will run for the post in November.

“Today, I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the position of Chief of Police for the City of Youngsville,” he posted. “I do not and will not take this responsibility lightly. I am returning to complete the task you, the citizens of Youngsville, elected me to do: MAKE YOUNGSVILLE THE SAFEST CITY IN LOUISIANA.”


Boudreaux will compete against the person who replaced him temporarilyCody Louviere, the announced his candidacy for the job earlier this week.

Boudreaux retired on August 9, 2024, saying at the time: “Five heart attacks, ten stents and the constant stress of this job have taken their toll.”

He said his health problems were now behind him.

“Today I am happy to say that after receiving proper medical care, I feel better than I have in the last 15 years,” Boudreaux wrote. “I am ready to take over the department again as your chief and steer it in the right direction. Today I humbly ask for your vote and need it to achieve the goals set. As I joked, who better to replace me as chief than myself??”

At the time of his retirement, Boudreaux was the target of an investigation which he tried to suppressfrom the Youngsville City Council. He also saw Allegations of harassment and intimidation of a subordinate.
