Rob Dillingham finds his home in the NBA and moves to the Minnesota Timberwolves

Rob Dillingham became the second Kentucky Wildcats guard selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft when he was selected No. 8 by the San Antonio Spurs.

However, his rights were sold to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Dillingham is one of two Wildcats, along with Reed Sheppard, selected in the lottery this year.

Dillingham was the SEC’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2023, averaging 15.2 points, 3.9 assists and 44.4 percent three-point shooting.

Despite starting just one game last year, he scored in double figures in 27 of his 32 games, including 20 points in eight games, including 35 points that came entirely off the bench.

His explosive skills and playmaking abilities are a big reason for his great potential in the NBA. However, it took Dillingham some time to get used to not being a starter.

“It was a little difficult at first,” Dillingham told Shams Charania of The Athletic. “But as time goes on, you grow into it, you have to play with a chip on your shoulder and play basketball and understand that when you come in the game, you have to perform, and if you don’t, you’re not going to get any more time.”

Dillingham was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023 and ranked 16th overall in the 247Sports rankings.
