When a court employee entered the release information into his system, he accidentally entered Sanders’ case number.

Sanders’ case number is CR-23-685908. The other defendant’s case number is CR-23-685909. The information was then forwarded to the prison’s records department. According to prison officials, Sanders was released Monday evening around 6:30 p.m.

The court’s statement also said, “Had the cases been on different files, the system would have reported the error upon entry.” Acting Corrections Director Nestor Rivera said the court and the Cuyahoga County District Attorney’s Office informed them of the error around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

After 39 hours in freedom, Sanders was arrested again by officers with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday morning and taken into custody againThe court said in a press release after the incident that it would review its practices with the sheriff’s department to prevent such a thing from happening again.

“It’s not fair. There are so many people who are locked up for crimes they may not have committed, but if someone is caught on video doing something, how can they accidentally get out?” Driskill’s wife Andrea Johnson told News 5 Cleveland.

Sanders is again facing charges of murder and aggravated assault. His trial will begin in August, the report said.
