Car crash in Hyannis and fatal stabbing lead to murder charges

A 29-year-old Centerville woman is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Barnstable District Court on murder and other charges in connection with the stabbing death of a man in Barnstable, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office said.

On Wednesday at approximately 7:19 p.m., Barnstable Police received a 911 call reporting an accident near the TD Bank at 226 Falmouth Road (Route 28) in Hyannis. A 33-year-old man in the car had been stabbed in the chest. He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead at 8:36 p.m.

According to the authorities, the arrested 29-year-old woman was in the car with the victim. She is accused of murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, according to the public prosecutor’s office.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office and the Barnstable Police Department are investigating. Second Assistant District Attorney Tara Cappola will prosecute the case.
