Teenager helped Marshalltown murder suspect after the fact, police chief says

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (WHO) — Marshalltown police said a juvenile was arrested in connection with an open homicide investigation.

On Wednesday, Marshalltown Police Chief Michael Tupper said the teen is linked to a fatal shooting that occurred in early June and the suspected shooter is still at large.

According to Chief Tupper, a 15-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday night on charges of aiding and abetting murder (a felony) and possession with intent to resell (marijuana) (a class D felony).

Police are still searching for the man who allegedly shot and killed 41-year-old Ramon Alexis Feliciano Nieves on June 1. Police were called to the Center Street Station bar at 19 North Center Street at 1:20 a.m. that morning for a shooting and found Nieves suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital.

The shooter was identified as 18-year-old Victor Antonio Delgadillo. There are arrest warrants against him for first-degree murder and harassment.

“We will arrest and prosecute anyone who knowingly aids Mr. Delgadillo. We cannot allow violent crime to sweep our community. We plan to make more arrests. We urge Mr. Delgadillo to follow the advice of his legal counsel and turn himself in. The only way to resolve this issue is through a trial,” said Police Chief Tupper.

A reward of $5,000 is being offered for information leading to Delgadillo’s arrest.
