KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Knoxville police are asking the public for any information that could help solve the murder of a taxi driver ten years ago.

According to KPD, 40-year-old Paul Shepherd Jr. had just started his new job as a taxi driver two days before he was shot in the Montgomery Village neighborhood on June 29, 2014.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. that day, Knoxville police officers responded to the area of ​​Sims Road and Cook Drive, where Shepherd was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

That day, Shepherd had made seven trips, according to his taxi logbook, the last from Townview Towers to just outside Montgomery Village. Knoxville police said witnesses saw two young men get out of the taxi, shoot Shepherd and flee the scene.

Although detectives have continued their investigation into the case, including recent efforts to uncover new forensic evidence and interview new potential suspects, no suspect has been arrested or charged in connection with Shepherd’s murder.
