Tate had an outstanding college career with the Buckeyes.
He went undrafted in 2018 and then joined the Rockets in 2020.
His career averages are 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 49.5% from the field and 30.6% from three-point range in 244 regular season games.
As for the Rockets, they are an intriguing team coming off a season that saw them finish 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 41-41.
They finished the season 5.0 games behind the Golden State Warriors, securing the last spot in the play-in tournament.
The Rockets have not made the NBA playoffs since the 2020 season, when James Harden was still on the team.
Still, they have a very interesting roster that includes (in addition to Tate and others) Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, Fred VanVleet and Jabari Smith Jr.
Ime Udoka begins his second season at the top.
