Pokemon GO players should not use Meteorite on Rayquaza yet

Highlights

  • Shadow Rayquaza could be the next addition to the Team GO Rocket Takeover event.
  • Pokémon GO players should save meteorites for Shadow Rayquaza’s Dragon Ascent move.
  • For remote players, acquiring meteorites in Pokémon GO remains a challenge, so if players get their hands on some, they may want to hold onto them for Dragon Ascent.

A Pokémon GO Fan has noted that players should still avoid using their Meteorite on Rayquaza as they may need it when Shadow Rayquaza is released in the next Team GO Rocket Takeover event. Giovanni’s lineup usually changes once per season during the Team GO Rocket Takeover event, and according to leaks, Shadow Rayquaza could be the next Pokemon to appear Pokémon GO.

Niantic organizes an Elite Raid with Rayquaza in Pokémon GOone of the most powerful Pokémon in the game. However, fans have been using the event more to get Meteorites, an item necessary for Mega Evolving Rayquaza – although it may not be such a good idea to use Meteorites if players have one.

Pokemon GO fans are unhappy about possible change to event spawn

Niantic is adding a new bonus to the Aquatic Paradise event and fans believe it will have a detrimental effect on event spawns in the future.

In a new post on The Silph Road subreddit, user mcmillan789 reveals why players shouldn’t rush their Meteorites. He highlights that Shadow Rayquaza will likely be the Shadow Legendary as part of the Giovanni Timed Research. Mega Rayquaza is quite powerful and definitely several tiers above base Rayquaza, but Shadow Rayquaza should boost the Pokemon’s attack capabilities even further. The user highlights how drastic the difference can be, adding that even a 6/6/6 Shadow Rayquaza can be better than a regular Hundred Rayquaza in Pokémon GO when it comes to attack power.

The article has many Pokémon GO Fans are confused because Shadow Pokémon cannot be mega-evolved. However, it is not the mega evolution that players should save their meteorites for. The crucial fact is that meteorites are used to create Rayquaza Dragon Ascent in Pokémon GOand that should be the case for the Shadow variant as well. Dragon Ascent is an incredibly powerful attack and players should definitely use it instead of Frustration, a practically useless attack that all Shadow Pokémon have when caught.

It remains difficult for Pokémon GO players to get meteorites

The hardest part will be saving up Meteorites for Shadow Rayquaza. Players will need to win an Elite Raid to obtain the Meteorite from one of the two Timed Researches organized as part of the event. Pokémon GO Players, especially those living in remote areas, are having a lot of trouble getting players to join Elite Raids, even if they can find one at all. Remote raids are not possible for Elite Raids, and even the free meteorite giveaway requires players to join Elite Raids in Pokémon GOtherefore, many fans were unable to get their hands on the coveted item. If they did, they should keep it for Dragon Ascent.
