2 found dead after apparent murder-suicide in home in North Nashville, Tennessee: MNPD

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WKRN) – Police found two people dead in a North Nashville home Saturday after investigators believe what appeared to be a murder-suicide.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Cato Road shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, after receiving reports that a man had attacked a woman and pointed a gun at her.

Then, at around 2 a.m., police said they received a call from another person who said a man had shot a woman and then himself.

Authorities reported that a man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. MNPD identified them as 51-year-old Christopher Minchey and 42-year-old Heather Nelson.

Investigators said preliminary investigations indicate there was an argument between the couple before the fatal shooting.

A witness reportedly told officers that Nelson walked to the end of the driveway, Minchey followed her, and then they heard gunshots and saw her fall forward first, followed by him.

Detectives from the Homicide and Domestic Violence Unit reportedly arrived at the scene to begin the investigation and interview the witness.

According to official information, the police had not previously had contact with the couple.
