Brookridge Heights hosts the 6th annual car show

MARQUETTE, Michigan (WJMN) – Brookridge Heights hosted its sixth annual car show Saturday afternoon.

The event featured antique, classic and one-of-a-kind cars, as well as food, live music and a performance by an Elvis impersonator. The car show was free, but donations were gladly accepted to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. This event was part of Brookridge Heights’ “Making Memories” initiative, which organizes a few large events each month for residents and community members that focus on making new memories while reflecting on past memories.

“It’s very important for us to organize events like this for our residents because it takes them back to their younger days,” said Lindsay Hemmila, director of sales and marketing at Brookridge Heights. “We see their smiles, we see how bright they look and how they start to tell stories from their past. That’s the main reason we do this. We thought that this year, after we started our fundraisers for the Alzheimer’s Association, we would accept donations from people who might want to help us support the cause.”

Next month, on Monday, July 29, Brookridge Heights will host a concert series. Check out the Facebook page for more information.
