It has been a relatively quiet 24 hours on the cryptocurrency market, with the majority of coins failing to make any significant gains. However, the opposite is also true – most altcoins are trading in a state of equilibrium.

Although this could often prove to be a harbinger of a significant move in one direction or the other, let’s take a closer look at the price action over the last day.

Bitcoin price stabilizes at 61,000 USD

BTC price consolidated around $60,000 yesterday, but bulls were able to gain some foothold and push it above $61,000, where it is currently trading at around $61,400.

This means that Bitcoin can record an increase of around 0.8% on this day. The volume remains low, but is within the expected range for the weekend.

Bitcoin’s dominance – the metric that measures its share relative to that of the rest of the market – currently stands at 50.8%, while ETH accounts for about 17% of the total market.

Altcoins remain calm, some meme coins trend

The majority of large-cap altcoins have traded largely unchanged over the past 24 hours, with TON recording gains of around 2%, driven by a significant increase in the total value locked in the protocol.

Elsewhere, and perhaps where things get a little more interesting, there was a sharp rise in cat-themed meme coins today, with the entire category up more than 6%, according to data from CoinGecko.

Furthermore, these particular meme coins are up a whopping 43% in the past week. Some notable mentions include Mog Coin (MOG) and Popcat (POPCAT).

All in all, the market remains in a neutral state, with sentiment improving significantly since yesterday according to the popular Crypto Fear and Greed Index.
