The Meta Quest 2 is dead, long live the Quest 3S

Meta Quest 2 stock has been depleted at retailers for some time now, and it seems like it’s gone for good. The official Meta Store, which ships directly to certain countries and regions, has started to run out of stock. exercise 2 Headsets. And they won’t be restocked.

Of course, this has been a long time coming. More and more apps and games are being released exclusively for Meta Quest 3. And there were rumors about a new, cheaper Task 3 Headset for some time now.

This alleged new headset called Meta Quest 3S is supposed to be just as powerful as the Task 3. But it will make sacrifices elsewhere to reduce costs, such as screen resolution. It will also be the cheapest entry point into Meta’s XR (extended reality) platform after the exercise 2 is gone.

This does not mean that exercise 2 is completely abandoned by Meta. Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth recently claimed that Quest 2 would be supported for years to come, so there is no pressure for VR enthusiasts on a tight budget to upgrade just yet. But we have already seen several Quest updates with improvements that are exclusive to Meta Task 3. And I think it’s safe to say that this trend will continue. Task 3 is a more powerful headset and Meta wants to take full advantage of that power, especially now that the release of Apple Vision Pro has spurred the industry into action and alternatives are being worked on.

The Quest headsets are among the best VR headsets on the market today and exercise 2 is no different. But like all good things, the Quest 2’s reign must soon come to an end. And what a glorious reign it has been.
