The 2024 Wimbledon Championships begin on Monday, July 1. The two-week Grand Slam, the only major tournament played on traditional grass courts, is the most prestigious tournament in the sport.
Wimbledon could see a showdown between two of the most prominent players of the moment – world number one and top seed Jannik Sinner and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. Last month, at the age of 21, Alcaraz became the youngest player in the Open Era to win majors on all three surfaces – grass, clay, hard court – when he secured the 2024 French Open title.
In the women’s competition, all eyes are on defending champion Marketa Vondrousova and world number one Iga Swiatek, who is still chasing her first Wimbledon title.

When do the Wimbledon Championships start?
The 2024 Wimbledon Championships will take place from July 1 to 14. As always, defending men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz will open Centre Court on Monday with his first-round match against Estonia’s Mark Lajal.
