Two Georgia football players made the list of the 25 best returning college football players.
The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to be one of the top teams in college football this year, and some consider them the favorite to win the national championship this year. One reason for this is the number of key starters they are bringing back. Many Bulldogs have chosen to return to college rather than declare for the draft, putting them in a good position for the 2024 college football season.
Two of the best returners this year are quarterback Carson Beck and safety Malaki Starks. Beck was one of the players who decided to return to college for another season, while Starks is entering his third season of college. Both are top players at their positions and 247 Sports believes they are two of the top 25 players returning this year. Starks came in at No. 12 on the list and Beck at No. 8. Here’s what they wrote about each player:
Malaki Starks:
“Starks is the best safety in college football and a reigning first-team All-American. His return to Georgia’s defense is a boon to a group that has undergone significant upheaval, and he will be the heart of this unit after two remarkable years to start his career.”
Carson Beck:
“Beck is the betting favorite to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy. He surpassed 250 yards in 11 consecutive games last season and is considered the most consistent elite passer in college football as a second-year starter.”
Both Beck and Starks were the highest-ranked players at their positions on the roster. Both are projected to be selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft and will be major contributors to Georgia’s 2024 season. With a schedule that includes road games against Ole Miss, Texas and Alabama, the Bulldogs will not only have to rely on their stars on both sides of the ball, but they will also have to show up and show up.
Beck is currently at the Manning Passing Academy, along with a number of other big names in the college football quarterback field. Many expect him to have a great season for the Bulldogs, and it seems like he’s doing whatever it takes to make that happen.
Georgia begins its 2024 season on August 31 at 12:00 EST at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against the Clemson Tigers.
