Drew Carey does not see his time as a presenter for The price is correct will soon be coming to an end. The comedian/actor has been part of the popular game show since 2007 and has found a niche for himself, following in the footsteps of the legendary Bob Barker. In fact, if it were up to him, Carey would like to continue being the face of the CBS program until his heart stops beating and his brain stops working.
One might not judge Drew Carey if he said that his time as host of The price is correct is numbered, because doing something for nearly two decades is an impressive feat, but the reality is that the opposite is true. TV Insider recently asked him how he feels about being the longest-serving game show host currently on the air (Pat Sajak recently retired from the program). Wheel of Fortune), and Carey stated his career goal as part of his answer:
As Drew Carey noted, Bob Barker moderated The price is correct for 35 years and Pat Sajak moderated Wheel of Fortune 41 seasons, so he still has a long way to go before he catches both of them. Carey is now 66, so he’ll have to host at 83 to catch Barker, and 89 to catch Sajak. Coincidentally, Barker retired at 83 (though Sajak is only 77).
Drew Carey was asked if his statement meant he never planned to retire, and he explained how his perspective on the job has changed over the years (and apparently ended with a joke to make future contract negotiations easier). Carey said:
If it is your personal dream to be a host The price is correctYou might want to put that dream on hold for a while, because it doesn’t look like Drew Carey is going anywhere for the time being.
