This was a first for the Las Vegas-based Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The name of a UFC fight show is renamed thanks to a title sponsor.

UFC 306 at Sphere Las Vegas on September 14 is also known as Riyadh Season Noche UFC. Mexican Independence Day is in September.

Riyadh Season, a festival in the capital of Saudi Arabia, has acquired the naming rights.

Dana White

UFC boss Dana White declined to say how much revenue the naming rights brought in for the organizer of the MMA fight show.

Keep in mind that the UFC is spending more than $20 million to host its September fight show at the Sphere on Sands Avenue just off the Strip.

When LVSportsBiz.com asked White how much Riyadh Season is paying for the title sponsorship, the UFB boss replied: “Enough so that the number (over $20 million) doesn’t hurt so much anymore.”

As the title sponsor of UFC 306, Riyadh Season will display a permanent watermark throughout the broadcast, from prelims to the main card on pay-per-view.

In addition, “Riyadh Season” will be prominently displayed in the Octagon.

UFC just held UFC 303 at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

The NHL held its two-day player draft event at the Sphere on Friday and Saturday. According to the UFC, the Sept. 14 fight show will be the first sporting event at the Sphere, a spherical music venue with giant video screens inside. The National Hockey League, however, just held its draft there.
