Taylor Swift gets stuck on the platform at the Dublin Eras Tour show

When mishaps occur on stage, Taylor Swift and her crew are experts at shaking them off!

During her second Eras Tour concert in Dublin on Saturday, June 29, Swift, 34, got stuck on an elevated platform – but luckily one of her dancers helped her out.

During the performance of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”, a classic of the Department for Tortured Poets During part of the tour setlist, the pop superstar was stuck in mid-air on a platform in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium after it was not retracted as planned.

Instead of disappearing into the stage like the platform opposite her – on which one of her backing dancers, Jan Ravnik, stood – the part of the structure on which the singer stood remained firmly on the stage, as footage shot by fans shows.

However, Swift and Ravnik were all professionals and did not let themselves get discouraged before they easily overcame the technical mishap.

Without wasting a second, Ravnik immediately walked over to the star’s platform after his own reached the dance floor and effortlessly helped her down while she smiled down at him, as another clip of the performance shows.

Swift and Ravnik were now both on level ground and going about their usual business. They resumed formation in front of the “Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” bridge as a group of dancers emerged for a marching band-inspired choreography.

During the same Eras Tour show, Swift talked about folklore – and revealed that Ireland played a big role in developing the story of the pandemic-era fantasy-inspired album.

After performing “Cardigan,” the first single from the album that won the 2021 Grammy for Album of the Year, Swift told the audience: “folklore in general it is just part of Ireland.”

“I imagined the world of the album to be like Ireland. Storytelling with lots of different characters,” she continued, referring to the hit album’s melancholic stories. “You’ve got that too. It’s very Irish, the storytelling.”

“When I made this album, I started two days after the pandemic began folkloreI wasn’t in Ireland. So I had to make an album where the imaginary world I pretended to travel to every day while I was writing it… I have to be honest, it kind of felt like Ireland,” the Grammy winner told the audience. “So we’re back where we belong!”

The singer’s first show in Dublin on Friday, June 30th, was also marked by Irish pride. RedDuring “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” one of her backing dancers, Kameron Saunders, took part in a Swift tradition: He praised each host country of the Eras Tour in their native language. Saunders shouted the Irish phrase “póg mo thóin”, which means “kiss my ass” in English.

On her first night in Dublin, Swift also wore an orange crop top and a green ombre skirt in a shimmery – and stylish! – nod to the country’s flag.
