Man shot in chest after argument at car wash; suspect charged with murder, police say

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (WMC) – Memphis police have arrested and charged a man who allegedly shot a victim following an argument.

On August 9 of last year, police responded to a 911 call about a shooting at the Chelse Car Wash on May Street.

When officers arrived, they found that a man had been shot in the chest.

According to the affidavit, a witness told police that he saw the victim and a male suspect arguing.

According to police, the suspect, 35-year-old Damauriel Johnson, was working on a car belonging to the victim’s father.

According to the police report and eyewitness accounts, the victim was upset and accused Johnson of stealing his father’s car keys.

According to MPD, after the argument escalated, Johnson pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the chest.

Johnson then fled the scene before police arrived.

The victim’s death was later confirmed by paramedics on site.

After further investigation, Johnson was identified as the main suspect in the shooting.

He is now charged with premeditated murder.
