The NBA draft is over and the next big draft is just around the corner.

After the Florida Panthers’ victory over the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup final, the 2024 NHL Draft is just around the corner.

In last year’s draft, Connor Bedard went first to the Chicago Blackhawks and this year’s class also includes a promising young player who is expected to be selected number 1.

The 2024 draft is scheduled for Friday, June 28th through Saturday, June 29th.

Round 1 of the draft begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET, 4:30 p.m. PT. Rounds 2-7 begin Saturday at 11 a.m. ET, 8 a.m. PT.

Who are the top candidates in the 2024 NHL Draft?

Macklin Celebrini of Boston University is generally considered the most promising young player this year.

Besides Celebrini, here are a few other names to keep an eye on:

Macklin Celebrini, C, Boston University: The 17-year-old Boston University graduate scored 32 goals and 32 assists in 37 games last NCAA season, and his unique blend of competitiveness, IQ and end product should put him at the top of the standings no matter who is under the clock.

Artyom Levshunov, D, Michigan State: The 18-year-old Spartan has nine goals and 26 assists in 38 NCAA games and is versatile enough to play anywhere. His playmaking ability is also a strong selling point.

Ivan Demidov, F, SKA St. Petersburg: The 18-year-old right wing/center hybrid has 23 goals and 37 assists in 30 games. He missed a few games due to a knee injury, but still has robust power and agility at 6’1″ and 175 pounds.

Cayden Lindstrom, F, Medicine Hat Tigers: With a height of 1.93 m and a weight of 98 kg, the Canadian played for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL, where he scored 27 goals and 19 assists in 32 games.

Sam Dickinson, D, London Knights: The 6’2″ Dickinson scored 18 goals and 52 assists in 68 games, playing primarily as a left defender.
