Summer fun activities to do at Explore Park

ROANOKE, Virginia. – It’s summer and what better way to explore Roanoke’s great outdoors than with an adventure high in the trees at Explore Park?

“You can really spend a whole day or a whole weekend out here. We have overnight options at Blue Ridge Campground and Dons Cabin Campground. We also have 14 miles of hiking and biking trails, an 18-hole disc golf course at Mayflower Hills, and on weekends, Twin Creeks Brew Pub with food and drinks for everyone,” said Alex North, marketing and administration coordinator for Roanoke Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

Just 15 minutes from downtown Roanoke, you can easily enjoy the view from up to 45 feet in the air.

“Below us are levels one, one and one, and further down is the obstacle course for the little kids. So it’s really cool that there are a lot of different obstacles up there in the air,” North said.

“We have some season ticket holders in their 50s and 60s who travel down from Lexington and come here once or twice a week just to practice,” North said.

If you’re heading outside for the sun and have always wanted to enjoy the view from tree tops, Explore Park is offering a July 4th special of $7.76 off your exploration in honor of the year 1776.
