Scattered thunderstorms tonight, rainy and significantly cooler on Sunday

Another hot day across Kansas, but not quite as hot as yesterday! Heat advisories are in effect for parts of southern Kansas through the evening.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are developing along a cold front that runs from Arkansas City to Fredonia.

A severe weather warning is in effect for parts of southeast Kansas until 11 p.m. This includes Elk, Chautauqua, Cowley and Kay counties.

Storms will move slowly today, favoring areas near the front. Wichita will remain mostly dry, but one or two storms may try to move closer to the southeast side of the metropolis.

Storms can produce large hail and destructive gusts of wind.

A more extensive storm complex is moving into southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma Panhandle this evening. There is also a possibility of some severe storms here.

These storms will spread across the state overnight, increasing the chance of storms and beneficial precipitation.

Excessive rainfall may occur in parts of the Oklahoma Panhandle and a flood warning is in effect.

Thanks to the rain, lows tonight will be cooler, mostly falling below 15 degrees Celsius.

Tomorrow will start cloudy and humid, during the morning and early afternoon the rain will gradually stop from west to east.

Thanks to the clouds, temperatures tomorrow will remain well below average with highs between 21 and 27 degrees Celsius.

Another wave of storms will move in from the west tomorrow afternoon, with isolated storms affecting northern Kansas on Sunday evening.

On Monday and Tuesday temperatures will quickly rise again to over 35 degrees and over 60 degrees, then cool down again in the middle of the week as the stormy weather sets in again.

Further storms are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday, and further storms are possible until next weekend.
