The original Resident Evil gets a stunning Unreal Engine 5 remake that you can try now

Can we have another remake?

While the Resident Evil series may not have created the survival horror subgenre, it certainly helped popularize it and inspired works such as Silent Hill, Dead Space, and others.

The first game in this survival horror series to be released was resident Evil which was released in 1996 and established itself as an absolute hit, giving Capcom another hit alongside Mega Man and Street Fighter. From that moment on, the Resident Evil series got bigger and arguably better with almost every release.

In 2002, the Nintendo GameCube received a complete remake of the original resident Evila game that still looks and plays beautifully to this day. This remake has also been remastered several times and re-released in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox One era.

There has been a lot of talk lately about the fact that even more Resident Evil remakes are on the way following the success of Resident Evil 2 (2019), Resident Evil 3 (2020) and Resident Evil 4 (2023) Remakes.

It is always important to take unconfirmed rumors with a grain of salt, but depending on which speculation you want to believe, resident Evil maybe there will be a second remake, or it’s time Resident Evil Code: Veronica And Resident Evil 5.

We’ll just have to wait and see what Capcom announces in the coming months, but in the meantime, we can always look forward to stunning fan remakes like the one shown on the RE Biohazard YouTube channel, created by Team Arklay and powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The fan-made remake, which seems to be inspired by the official 2002 remake, gives us a wonderfully eerie tour of the Spencer Mansion, with its claustrophobic halls, art gallery, guest house, and secret laboratory. If Capcom does indeed decide to do another remake, this fan remake may give us the best hint of what it might look like.
