Attention: Help find Samula Wilson in connection with car break-ins

Detective Carlton Phillips of the Port Gibson Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating an accomplice in a series of car break-ins.

Samela Wilson, 44, of Pennsylvania is being questioned in connection with a series of car break-ins in the Port Gibson area. Wilson is the accomplice of Neil David Davis, 50, who gave investigators a false name when he was arrested. Below is the original story of the arrest of the man who told police he was Joshua John Bell.

UPDATE – Wednesday, June 26, 1:30 p.m. – Joshua John Bell gave investigators a false name. Neil David Davis, 50, gave investigators a false name to protect another person. Investigator Carlton Phillips followed his instincts and brought Davis to Vicksburg to run him through the live scan fingerprint machine connected to the FBI database. When his information came back, he had numerous drug offenses, theft, burglary and more. 47 pages of information in total.

Davis faces additional charges of making false statements. Investigators are also looking for his accomplice, Samela Wilson, 44, of Pennsylvania, who is being questioned in connection with alleged thefts in Port Gibson.

On Friday, June 21, 2024, Port Gibson Police arrested 46-year-old Joshua John Bell for a car theft on Mark Street. After the break-in, Joshua fled the area but was later found hiding under the Bayou Pierre Bridge on Church Street. Sergeant Investigator Carlton Phillips quickly arrested Joshua and brought him to the police station. After questioning Joshua, Inv. Phillips was able to locate and recover all of the stolen items. Joshua stated that he is from Birdsboro, Pennsylvania and has no relatives in the Port Gibson area.

Joshua is currently being held at the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department awaiting his initial appearance before the Honorable Judge Odom of Mareesha.

Investigator Phillips said he wanted to remind and urge all citizens to lock the doors of their vehicles and remove all valuables if they are not in their vehicle for an extended period of time.
