Shooting in west Shreveport ends with car rolling over on I-20 | News

A 33-year-old Shreveport man was arrested on attempted murder charges Thursday morning after police say he went on a rampage in the west side of the city.

At around 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Shreveport Police officers responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Jewella Avenue and Mackey Lane. The victim was still connected to 911 and reported that he was driven away from a man who shot at him from another vehicle. The victim followed directions and attempted to reach the police station while the suspect continued to pursue him at a high rate of speed, police said.

The suspect repeatedly rammed the victim’s car, causing it to run off Interstate 20 and down an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll over. Despite the severity of the incident, the victim suffered only minor injuries, police said.

Detectives from the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit arrived at the scene and patrol officers were able to arrest Robert Cornelius. Cornelius was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property, police said.
